FIELDWORK COUNCIL

A Community of Dedicated Fieldwork Educators and Coordinators

ABOUT US

The CAOTFC represents the Occupational Therapy Programs in California and the dedicated team of Academic Fieldwork Coordinators across the state. Established in 1995, the council was created to provide a support network and education to academic and clinical coordinators who mentor the hundreds of students who enter the field of Occupational Therapy through fieldwork each year.  It also aims to facilitate the development of quality fieldwork opportunities. Our passionate and skilled team members are here to help clinicians become great educators and students to become successful professionals in our field of Occupational Therapy.

WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW?

AOTA NEWS

On December 20, CMS shared a letter reiterating that “CMS has not changed its policy with regard to the [Conditions of Participation] and the provision of healthcare services by students in hospitals, including therapy students providing rehabilitative services in hospitals and IRFs.” CMS confirmed their support for clinical education and emphasized that proper supervision must be provided for fieldwork student services to be recognized as counting toward the intensive rehabilitation program requirements.

We truly appreciate AOTA for their effort and timely response to the clarification of CMS’s policies. Please see more on the AOTA website.
